I have a log home that has a grey color – can’t tell if it is paint or stain. Do you reccommned corn blasting be done by do-it-yourselfers? Where can the equipment be rented?

Yes, corn cob blasting is the way to remove the old finish.Never power wash your log home. It drives the water so deep into the wood fiber that it will not dry out properly. If you stain too early you can seal that moisture in the wood and cause many problems in the future. The biggest one being mold growing under the stain causing it to fail and peel.
I do not recommend corn cob blasting for the do-it-yourselfer.You can do lasting damage to your wood if not done properly. As for renting the equipment, I cannot tell you where to get it.
