My husband and I are buying 50 acres with 4 historical cabins built by the Hanes Family in NC. We would like to respect the history of the cabins but update them as well. Do you have a recommendation as to the “important” things to keep while recovering?
That is really up to the owner to decide. Things to consider would be if the cabins are on the Historical Registrar for the area or if you wanted to get them added. There would be certain things they would require if that was the case. Otherwise, making sure the cabins are structurally sound and sealed would be important for their longevity. You could contact a company like American Log Restoration if you wanted to get estimates for any repairs needed. Their website is www.logrepair.com
