purchased a hand built log cabin camp . it seems to have never had any type of finish applied,,, inside or out. and now seems aged , what products would you suggest i use to clean the interior and exterior.. and suggestions as to what i can apply to give me a traditional log home look
It sounds like the cabin is older. If so, the interior will probably need a light sanding to remove dust and dirt that has gotten into the wood fiber over the years. You can then apply a light stain and clear coat to seal the wood from getting dirty again. You can wipe it down once a year with warm water and Murphy’s Oil Soap. The exterior probably needs to be corn cob blasted then Osborne brushed to prepare for new stain. You should also apply a borate treatment before staining. I like Perma Chink Life line stains and products. Call Dave at 800-564-2987 for more help and the materials you will need.
