I have heard that borate treatments with glycol take weeks to dry before refinishing. I have also read articles that say the glycol interferes with the bonding of the stain to the logs. What are your thoughts on this?

The glycol borates work the best since they dry slowly and penetrates the wood deeper. They will interfere with the stain bonding to the wood only if they are not allowed to dry properly. Go out andlay your hand on the logs in the morning and if it is sticky, it is not dry yet, even if it feels like it later in the day.
