We have a dark interior log home that was finished 30 years ago with a Sikken stain and a varnish. We wish to have the logs lighter and have a contractor who is suggesting first sanding the logs and then applying a Minwax gel stain. However, he does not believe that the sanding will remove all the color of the stain. How will the Minwax really lighten the logs if this is the case?
