This can be repaired with conventional 2x4s and install logs both sides to match the building. Why not fix the roof and replace the logs? I would 1st get a price for that so you could see the cost difference.

Borate is a preventative to rot. If they are rotted they need to be replaced. When epoxys are used itwill be in situations where they can’t be replaced.

I would suggest not to perform your own log repair, There are other areas of restoration which might be completed by non profesionals. I’ve repaired many jobs where I had to go behind others to remedy structual or other problems.

When you tear out the exterior of the log,this is when you make the judgement call. In most cases you can save the interior. I would spray the saved portion of the log with borates.
