You need a different stain for everything. Any flat surface like a deck needs a special stain. Try to get something that will accent the house. Try to get a match will be difficult and look like your trying to match.

I would say run an orbital sander over it to take off any loose material, give it a light wash and then apply 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Woodscapes solid stain.
You can use the Log Wash, but I do not recommend the Linseed Oil & turpentine. It will turn the log black over time. Get a good latex stain made for log homes. You will probably need to strip house back to good clean wood also to prepare it correctly.
A LIGHT wash, not a true power wash. Save your money on the borate since it can only be applied to bare wood to work. Be careful of painters that do not work strictly on log homes.
