I do not recommend using strippers, but if you do make sure that you neutralize properly after use or the new stain will not adhere. I would go with something different than the Wood Guard this time. Get a good quality latex log home stain like Life Line or Capture.

Even the best stain and clear coat will require some maintenance every 3 years on a west exposure. I would recommend Life Line Ultra 2 ”Natural” with the gloss Advanced Topcoat

You should Osborne brush them to clean then apply one coat of Perma Chink Prelude primer then two coats of Perma Chink Interior Acyrilic Satin or Gloss

First I would say get a different stain. Second, you will have to paint the chink lines when you are finished. Perma /chink makes a chink paint. Use a very short bristled brush.

Allow to dry. Not sure what they mean buy ”wet”. Are they freshly harvested? if so you need to wait 6 to 12 months before staining or you will end up with resin bleed for years!
