I would recommend stripping the Wood Guard off first by corn blasting.

Do not use bleach or power wash hard. If you haven’t stained yet call Timeless Wood Care products for the materials that you will need.

Not sure where you are located, but Maple Island Log Homes in Muskegon, Michigan has very nice log steps that I think they sell.

The only way to get a good ”gloss” finish is to sand after blasting. Sounds like this contractor was not fimiliar with Sikkens. It sounds like there are lap marks from improper application and the only good way to fix it is to blast and sand again.

Sanding is about the only good way. If the stains are old as you say they are probably deep into the wood fiber and may not come out completely.

It depends on what the logs looked like on what should have been done. It sounds like he used some kind of chemical cleaner and did not apply it properly to get streaking like that. Yes, Corn cob blasting will probably take it off.
