It needs to be removed ASAP. It causes black mold to grow on the surface of the wood under the stain. I beleive there was a big recall of that product from Behr.

Nothing recommended from Home Depot. You need to give it a good bath with Mean Green and then stain it with Sherwin Williams Woodscapes Solid. If the wood is free of blotches and old ruminates of paint or stain you might get away with Woodscapes Semi Transparent.

Strippers are very hard to use without getting it on something that it shouldnt be on. Also if you do not neutralize it properly the new stain will not adhere to the wood.

I would not recommend putting anything different over it because it will probably cause more problems. It needs to be stripped and start over. I would recommend Life Line this time. You need to budget $1 per square foot of house / per year to maintain.

There is no way to get rid of this and I would not recommend living in it. Creosote is very high in carcinogens.

They will work, but there probably will be a slight color difference. Sounds like you may have to grind of any left over paint or stain after blasting to get a good finish.
