Yes, there will be a difference in appearence from brushing versus spraying, but if you do it right it can match. Also, I am concerned that you are using baking soda. I have seen it do some funny stuff to certin woods, like turn it green. Good Luck!

It sounds like it could be brought back to good standing.It would have to be really bad not to bring it back.
I would wait for a while before staining the interior. It is very possible that water could be getting in thru the logs. You may want to caulk or chink the exterior complete. This will help stop the water infiltration. If the seams between the logs are 3/4” or less… Read More »Archive-5976

If the logs are not covered in any kind of finish I would give them a good healthy coat of borate, Shell Guard by Perma Chink would be a good choice. This will help stop/slow downthe log rot and help keep any wood eating insects out.
