Sanding would be best for the interior, but you may not be able to remove them if they are very deep into the wood fiber.

Yes, you should be able to clean it by corn cob blasting. Plan on $1.50 per square foot of living space per year for professional maintenance after it is back in good shape.

Sanding would mess it up. Corn cob or glass blasting would be the best, dry method, but you will loose some of the hand hewn marks. Not as bad as sanding. Call Mike at 866-670-3020 for help.
