We have a log home that was built in the 70’s. It has not been stained or sealed in the past seven years at least (this is when we bought the home). If it has been 7 years it probably needs to be stripped and start with a fresh surface. Media blasting is the best way followed by Osborne brushing. If the existing stain is really fry and flaky you may just have to Osborne really good to remove it. Then light wash with the Log Wash then new stain. Go with a good quality latex stain made for log homes like Perma Chink’s Life Line Ultra 2.
