I just purchased a house originally built in 1750. The main portion of the home is constructed with log timbers (random sizes, some square, etc). The exterior now has aluminum siding… I pulled off the interior paneling (the logs were all covered) and I’m not sure how to get started in cleaning up and preparing the interior wall. The logs are dark brown and look like they’ve been parged with some type of plaster material. Is it ok for me to break off this material so that I can clean up
