Have inherited a 25 yr. old hand peeled log cabin which is inhabitable due to flies and ladybugs. Construction is spikes, fiberboard splines and two rows of sticky back black gasket tape about 1/2 in. on each side of spline. Logs are irregular forming ledges with some spaces between logs extrememly small. Almost impossible to get caulk gun into spaces in many places. No sign of water damage but cold air in places. Should I find sheets of black foam, cut it to width and stuff spaces from in
No on the foam. You should have the exterior completely caulked to seal the home up. A good professional will be able to get into those hard to reach spots. The foam, if not completely covered to the weather will draw moisture and cause log rot. NEVER use the foam in a can. Call Mike at 866-670-3020 and ask for help.
