My 20 year old house is built with round Alaska Pine logs. I am renovating the kitchen and want to flatten the logs so the cabinets can sit flush against the wall. How do you suggest I do this. Power Planer maybe? I know it is a big job but I am willing to take it on. I just need some advice.

Cut down the logs as deep as you need with a chainsaw every inch or so then chisel area out flat. You may want to make a mark with a permanent marker on your chainsaw blade for a depth guide. You may want to consider installing fur stripping and hang cabinets from those instead of cutting out logs…
