Some of our exterior chinking has gaps and needs to be filled. The log home is about 8 yrs. old and there is a concern of patching with PermaChink and having the new patch not match up. Would the old chink have faded with time or does it retain its color? Or can the gaps just be filled with caulk instead? Will patch need to be painted to match up?

Repairing is a problem for match up with any latex chinking. It gets dirty over time and doesn’t come to true color for about 6-8 weeks after application. Patching with the chink is the best option. It will blend in with time. Not sure if I would paint since you would probably have to paint all lines on the building to make a match.
