An Orbital sander will do the job for you but can be slow, but you will get a real nice finish. A side grinder with a sanding disc is faster but will not give as nice a finish. Also, it can be quit dusty with the side grinder. Having the interior sanded and finished with a light honey color covered with an acrylic sealer will help in cleaning when it comes time to dust the logs.
