wanting to use 6”x 6” square logs. Can I use liquid nails in between them, along with lag bolts, on a butt and pass design?

Do not use Liquid Nails. It will not put up with the movement of the logs and fail anyway. I would recommend Woodsman from Perma Chink. http://www.permachink.com/woodsman.html
