I have been offered logs from a old dismantled 2 story log home, these logs have been laying on the ground exposed to the elements for about 20 years. I have not viewed them yet, could they possibly be restored or have they been exposed to long? Thank you, Kathy
Depends on what condition they are in. If they have been lying right on the ground they are more than likely rotted on the under side. You might be able to grind off the surface rot if they aren’t too bad. If they are square logs and they are rotted you will loose the character of the logs if they need to be ground.
