I am looking at buying a log home that is 15 years old. One of the exterior logs has a huge crack (probably 1 to 1 1/2 inch wide at one end) that narrows down for about 8 feet before it disappears. The crack is slightly above the middle of the log. Is that going to be a problem for me?
Probably not. You should not fill the checks (cracks) unless it is allowing wind, water or bugs to get inside. Squeeze some Shell Guard borate into it. Call Dave at 800-564-2987 to purchase.
