I am thinking of dimantling my great-grandmother’s log cabin, moving it. It was moved back in the late 1800’s to where it stands today and had been vacant for 20 years. Is there anything that can be done to help preserve the logs before they are reused? Not sure what kind of wood they are.

If there isn’t any stain or finish on the logs you should apply a good borate treatment like Shell Guard. You could also place Cobra Rods along the bottom course every foot or so. Call Timeless Wood Care Products at 800-564-2987 to get these products.
