My husband and I bought a 2-story log home (circa 1840’s) 2 years ago. Previous owners covered the logs inside and out. When we uncovered the logs inside, we found that the hand-hewn logs had been whitewashed. I would like to remove all of the whitewash (especially in the cracks). What is the best way to remove the whitewash? Could you use a sand blaster or would that damage the logs?
