We are reconstructing and joining together 2 1800’s log cabins that will have a stone fireplace in the living room area (2 story) and kitchen (1 story). We would like the fireplaces to look authentic but efficient. We also want to be able to cook in the kitchen fireplace with a swing crane that holds pots. Do you have suggestions for maintaining the authenticity look of the fireplaces but also be efficient? Any product suggestions?

You should contact a local mason and ask if they can recommend a historic mason in your area. Perhaps google historic masons.
