I am remodeling a civil war era log cabin with modern additon. I am trying to decide whether to replace the siding over the entire house to make it all match or to try to tackle the task of rechinking the original logs. I do not know what shape these logs are in until I tear into it. If there is considerable damage would it be in my best interest to redo the siding or should I go ahead and rechink and blast the logs?
