the interior of our log cabin is more orange than we would like. is it necessary to cornblast the surface before restaining it? Is cornblasting even done on the interior?

You can corn blat interiors, but it is very messy and all items should be removed or moved to another section of the house, and the it should be snaded or Osborne brushed for a smoother finish to help in dusting when you clean. At the very least you should sand the color off that you do not like and start over.
