Dumb question:
I am about to buy a log house that was built in 1987. -I think from a kit. How can I tell what kind of wood the logs are?

80% chance they are some sort of pine. If not pine, I have seenCedar, Cypress, or a hardwood of some sort in these kit style homes. I don’t know how to tell you without seeing it. Most any builder should be able to identify it.
