We bought a cedar siding home that has log at the corners, window frames, etc. 1 1/2 years ago. The lower part of the house where it gets the most weather wear needs restaining. We talked with the previous owner and she ”thinks” it was done with a water based stain that she got at Sherwin Williams. Can we restain just those boards that need it or do we redo the whole house. We aren’t sure of the color of the stain. Also, we were told we should seal the boards that are cracked. If so, what

Seal the cracks with Energy Seal. You will need to keep an eye on them for failure. The product from S.W. was probaly Woodscapes. Good stuff! I would recommend two coats on the lower boards and one coat on the upper portion. Good Luck! PS You need rain gutters on this home.
