Help Doctor! I’m buying an existing log home that is 13 years old. 18 months ago the owner power washed the home and applied chevron shingle oil. It already looks bad, and I would like to apply a stain to the home. Do I have to stick with oil base products? Should I strip and start over? If so what is the best product to use.

I would recommend stripping and starting over. I like to use Life Line stain made by Perma Chink. Maintenance is the key after that to keep it looking good.
