My log home was stained a dark color last time. It is time to restain, I want to go with a light natural color. What do I do?

I would recommend corn cob blasting to remove the old finish. This is a good time to apply a borate treatment since it can only be applied when you have bare wood.If you are having chinking or caulking problems they should be address next. Either completely chink/caulk the entire exterior or at the very least inspect and repair. You can now apply your new stain. We recommend Life Line made by PermaChink.
