We recently bought a 20-year old log home that has not been stained in many years. It has a worn, blothcy appearance with darkened spots. The contractor we selected strongly recommended a Cabot semi-transparent stain. He has started work on the first coat, and we are not happy with the result. He did a cursory power wash that did not remove the blackened areas. Now is is power-spraying the stain on and not back-brushing. It appears that the stain is just concealing the ”damag
