I’m looking at a modest size log home for possible purchase. Have yet to see inside but am told by neighbor that many improvements have been made. The outside looks solid but the logs clearly need a new external finish/treatment for long-term preservation. I’m going to guess the cabin covers around 1600 square feet. What would I be looking at to provide external protection for the logs, what would be the best material to use, and what time of year would be best to do it?

Thanks
