I am considering restorations on the cabin that my father is giving me, handed down from my grandfather. The cabin is ~80 years old and is constructed of white pine logs and swamp cedar rafters. The main issue with the cabin is the two pine trees in front are very close (one white pine and one douglas fir). The roots have actually lifted the front of the cabin I fear. You should either have the trees and stumps removed or have a building mover come in and pick it up, move it back some on a new foundation. If they know what they are doing they will be able to move building and chimney together.
