It seems that we have powder post beetles on a 4 ft. siding of our house and on the base of one of the pedalstals on the front porch. It has been recommended by a pest control that we use fumigation, but I really don’t want to do that.Isn’t there another alternative that we can try especially since it is localized?

The other alternative is to remove all the finish back to bare wood and apply a liberal application of Shell Guard borate treatment from Perma Chink.
