live near Madison, Wi Have log home 22 years old. Contractor applies semi-transparent stain in error last summer. How can it be removed without damaging or killing shubbery, lawn etc?Tried corn blasting–cuts in too deep. Also have three logs that sound hollow and spongy-about 6′ long. They are wis (white pine??) What is the best way to restore? Outside appearance is OK yet.
Corn blasting is the best solution. If you want the logs smoother you will have to sand after the blasting process. Chemical stripers will not remove all of the old stain completely and leave a blotchy look. Also, if you do not neutralize the striper properly the new stain will not adhere to the wood. Call Dave at 877-788-5647 and he can advise you on log replacement for your bad logs.
