I installed 1/4 pine log siding on my home 1 1/2 years ago form a local building company and they recommended CWF-UV. I have already applied 2 and 3 times and now one side has mold and areas in direct sunlight are aging and CWF is not staying. I need to put a new sealant on it. Can you apply a acrylic latex finish over the CWF applied 6 months ago? Can you get acrylic latex in different colors? I have no idea who in my area can corn blast…what else can I do?
Do not apply anything over the CWF. It needs to be stripped and then apply latex stain and clear coat. Yes, latex comes in many colors. I recommend Perma Chink Ultra 2 stain. CWF is paraffin based and does not hold up much longer than 6 months. It also causes major black mold on log homes from my experience.
