I have a 1948 log sided cabin with reverse board and batten gables. It’s a rare find and in great condition. Finish is generally in good shape, but the years of stain, and subsequently surface film finishes are of a bit rough. No blackening from UV or other wood damage, but some peeling of surface film and white opaqueness. I’ve been advised to (a) powerwash and apply a film coating, (b) cob blast; (c) glass blast; (d) walnut blast; (e) paint or solid stain; and (f) replace the siding. Op
