Help! We removed wood siding to expose logs of home built around 1880. Logs are square cut and appear to be ash. They were sandblasted inside and out and now we want to refinish the logs. The logs inside are very roughly cut in places. What is the best way to refinsih the exterior and interior and what are the best products to use. The logs also need to be rechinked. Someone suggested filling the interior with mortar and painting the mortar, is this a good idea?

You should use a good quality log home stain like Perma Chinks Life Line on both the interior and exterior. I would recommend using a latex chink instead of mortar on both the interior and exterior. Call Timeless Wood Care Products for help with this project at 800-564-2987.
