Is it acceptable to sheet over and wrap a log home to install a maintenance free siding? If so are there any procedures that should be done to ensure log preservation?

If there isn’t a finish on the logs you could spray a good heavy coat of Shell Guard borate treatment before wraping. This will help slow any rot, but will not stop it. If it is very rotten, you may want to take care of it before covering.
