I personally do not think you need to stain the backs of the siding. Others will disagree. Wasted cost in my opinion. Once the log siding is up it should be allowed to dry properly and then given a light bath with Log Wash. Then apply a borate treatment. Allow to dry the proper amount of time per the label and then caulk the entire exterior using Energy Seal or Perma Chink per the proper application. Stain with a good quality log home stain. I prefer Life Line made by Perma Chink. You can call Timeless Wood Care for more help and buy the products you need. 800-564-2987
