Choosing Between Oak, Pine, or Engelmann Spruce for New Log Home

The oak is probably a little less susceptible to rot than the pine or spruce. The cost of oak would probably be twice as much. All wood must be maintained to avoid rot. Be sure that the builder applies a borate treatment before staining.
