Comparing Penetrating Oil vs. Two-Stage Log Finishes for UV Protection

Which is better, a penetrating oil with UV protection, of a 2 stage product and the last stage seals the log form moisture? I have had 2 different painters tell me different things.

There is not a one time application product without maintenance. Having the house somewhat shadded does help from the sun damage. Ive always stuck with permachinks products and followed the recomended maintenance,
