There is nothing to recommend. You need some sort of pigment in the stain or it will just peel in one or two years.

It will have to be media blasted. Either corn cob or glass. Call Mike at 866-670-3020 for help and estimate.
You probably need to media the old finish off and start over. It is black mold growing under the stain and can only really be removed properly by stripping. Sanding it off would work as well, but more labor.
Vapor barrier, fir stripping and attach siding. Be sure all rot is addressed first.
Not that I’m aware of. You could run furring strips and put standard lap vinyl siding over them. You MUST repair all rot first or it will continue to degrade the structural integrity of the house.
Sounds like numbering tags that are used when a log home is reconstructed at the building for log position identification.
