I agree that the Linseed Oil is not good. However, there is not a product out there that will last 15 years without some maintenance in between. Any good stain is going to cost $40 to $70 per gallon. The bid to apply is very reasonable.

The best way is strip it off. You can try and experiment by putting a differnt color on top to see if it is something you like. Good luck.

I’ve said it many times here. DO NOT powerwash, it will turn black over time. The only way to clean this problem up is to strip it, let it dry out properly and then apply some good latex stain.

1 cup bleach, 1 cup TSP to 4-5 gallons warm water. wash with this mixture and rinse. Apply Liquid Gold after logs are dry.
