Either remove the wood ‘chink’ and apply closed cell foam with latex chink on top. Yuo could also run a bead of Energy seal along the edges of the wood ‘chink’.

A lot of log home builders say that you do not have to caulk or chink their homes, but most over time will need it. Have the exterior caulked completely is good insurancec against future problems. Call Mike at 866-670-3020 for more information.

Chinking is usually a must, since it made to be used in gaps greater than 3/4”. Anything smaller requires caulk. Typically over time most log homes with small chink lines need to be caulked. More of a preference on the interior.
