We recently put a stick built addition on our 30 year old log home. The logs were re-stained and sealed 3 years ago. We are putting log siding on the new addition and hoping to stain to match the existing structure. The new wood sticks out like a sore thumb because it has not aged. Any suggestions for better matching the existing logs? Should we use a darker stain for now and re-stain in a few years after they have aged? Should we sand the log siding prior to staining? Thank you!
