Hi,
We live in a 12 yr old log house in New Zealand.
We’ve found the top corner logs are rotting and we have started digging away at the rot.
Unfortunately it seems to go deeper than we first thought.
Most of the rot is dry and powdery. Is there a simple way of preventing further rot or do we have to remove all the rot as far back as the good wood.
Is there a way we can fix the problem without removing/replacing the logs?
We can protect with flashing once we have treated the problem.

If you are just going to remove the rot, you need to get all of it back to good wood. I would then recommend that you apply a liberal amount of borate to help slow down this rot. Being that it is in the corner, the best thing would be to get the logs replaced. You may be dealing with a structural issue.
