What’s the difference in using round backer rod verses trapezoid? I used the trapezoid where the gap exceeded 1 1/4” however the instructions for Triple Stretch say that round backer should only be used on joints 3/4” or less?? Will this be a problem?

The problem with using the rod backer is that the caulk line will be thin in the middle where it needs the most material to avoid cracking. If the line isn’t big enough to allow you to put a small trapezoid backer in and still be able to put an 1/8th inch thick of material in then go without the backer.
