Repairing Severe Top-to-Bottom Check/Split in Log Wall

upright weight bearing log has sever check/split from top to bottom. 1” on top 1/8” on bottom. how can i stop this and repair it. thanks

Checking is a normal occurance with logs. They do not take away from the structual qualities. I don’t believe you have a concern.
