I have a cabin in Colorado at EL. 7700 feet with peeled log siding that has been coated with a clear varnish. The varnish has deteriorated and yellowed and is flaking on the top part of the logs. Part of the logs are turning black. The underside of the siding appears okay in some areas where the varnish has not weathered. The same is true under the eaves where the sun has not hit the siding as much. What process would you recommend to restore the logs prior to placing a new finish? What pr
